About Me

Welcome, my name is Virginia. I am a qualified Integrated Psychodynamic and Humanistic Counsellor and a Professional Supervisor. Psychodynamic and Humanistic Approaches of counselling that can help people understand how their life experiences may effect their thoughts and feelings and identify the support they may need. There are other therapeutic models and because I believe that everyone is a unique individual, I will draw on these models if I believe they will help.

I work flexibly and to the needs of each individual. I can, for example, hold sessions from my home based practice in a confidential space. I can also hold sessions in the community such as at a local community centre, or at your home if appropriate.

I will provide you with a safe, non-judgemental, confidential and caring space where you can explore any current or past difficulties. I will listen to you and work with you to find the best way to understand and resolve your problems. I believe through counselling you can develop a sense of acceptance of who you are and come to terms with life events.

I have previously worked as a qualified nurse which helps me to understand the importance of emotional support. I strongly believe that mind body and soul are closely interlinked and when we are physically ill this can affect us emotionally by lowering our self confidence or reducing our self esteem while highlighting our vulnerability. Likewise when we are emotionally unwell it may manifest on us in a physical way.

Working for over 15 years with children, families, adults and through my own personal experience, I have gained an understanding of the problems that people face every day and how complex and unique these situations can be.

I never take for granted the expertise you have in your own life.

I am registered and proficiency certified with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and fully insured for the services I provide.
